Investing in your HVAC unit is something that you’ll want to do as soon as the summer heat really sets in, but if you wait until this point, then you’ll likely have some regrets when your unit doesn’t work as it’s supposed to. At Premier Heating and Air, we do everything that we can to ensure that your HVAC unit is working as intended when it needs to be. Here are a few things that you should ensure are done, before summer, to keep your unit ready for the warm weather.

Air Filter

Changing the air filter is something that can contribute to the overall functionality of your unit. While it may not seem like a huge working part of your unit, the filter is what allows air to filter through your unit in the first place. When it gets clogged up with gunk and dust, it makes it pretty difficult for air to be filtered into the unit in the first place. When this is the case, your HVAC unit will start to work harder just to get air to filter into the unit, and when it finally does get air through, it isn’t nearly as clean because it’s having to suck through all of the gunk that has been filtered through. The best way to ensure your unit works smoothly and the air that is coming through your unit is clean, is to stay on top of switching out your unit’s air filter.

Clean Surroundings

This next step works hand in hand with the last in that it can greatly affect the functionality of your HVAC unit, but also what type of debris is being sucked into your unit in the first place. The surroundings of your HVAC unit could be comprised of bushes, trees, or just plants in a garden. When these are too close to your unit, there is a chance that they will get sucked up into your vent, and create a clog. This is easily avoidable by setting aside some time every once in a while to simply clear the surrounding area.

If you have noticed any strange sounds coming from your HVAC unit or have had any issues with the way that it functions, then it may be time to call a professional. Schedule your appointment with Premier Heating and Air and allow us to come out and look over your unit. Make sure that you get this taken care of before summer has officially set in and you’re stuck in the warmth of summer without any cool air to keep you comfortable.
